Hi Guys,

I am having troubles updating my Blue Nemo, the modem transfer always fails at exactly the same place (294k), I have tried on a Mac Desktop, Ubuntu VM and a Mac laptop.

Sending: NEMO_OS_v500.elf
Ymodem sectors/kbytes sent: 2353/294kRetry 0: Cancelled
Transfer incomplete
Entry point: 0x00010040, address range: 0x00010000-0x000518b4
xyzModem - CRC mode, 1(SOH)/295(STX)/1(CAN) packets, 3 retries

I have used the mfill and dump commands to verify the ram is ok, no problem there.

Anyone any ideas?

Many thanks

Andy

Hi Guys,

I added a new post with this but thought I would add it here as well as it may notify people!

Hi Andy,

I am pretty sure from above output that the transfer was ok, rather this is just rather unhelpful feedback from the ymodem transfer (I always see the same thing)!

For piece of mind after the Nemo transfer to test/confirm this we can run the v5 code (without flashing) by entering the following command:

go 0x00010040

If all goes well you can be confident to flash next transfer 👍

Hi Wilson,

Running from the ram seems ok.

do you know any way of backing up the 1.62 version installed before flashing?

cheers

Andy

Hi,

We have copies of it if needed. It is also stored online if the original CVS (fork) repo. https://sourceforge.net/projects/genoqs-fork/

v5 was primarily about doubling the grid size and fixing bugs. You probably won't want to roll back.

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the info.

The only reason to roll back is if there is some stuff missing in the transfer and after a while It goes bang!

I'll grab the file from cvs and test I can transfer that.

Many thanks for all the help guys.

Cheers

Andy

Hi Genoqs-Lovers,

I'm searching for help, too, updating the nemo to 5.30.

I did the last update - to 5.00 - some years ago using linux / cutecom and it worked well.

Trying now to update to 5.30 using the little "manual" I wrote last time failed.

First sz didn't start for uploading the new .elf-file (cutecom 0.30 using MX Linux)  -> I updated to cutecom 0.50 with the actual debian-distro and also installed lrzsz.

Now the transfer of the .elf-file starts with a upload window, but no progress is done - using the byte-counter shows no transfer.

Does anyone have experience with updating the Nemo under linux and could give me some hints. Any help is appreciated. No problem, if annother distro would help.

BTW: thank you for all the work to keep the nemo swimming...

Regards

Claus
