Crikey! Your use of the word 'yet' has me almost vibrating with anticipation... The world lacks a good midi mangler box, I have bought and sold (in frustration) numerous kickstarter gadgets. I'd love something that could process sequences in cool ways, say a reflection (or rotation about) across a user defined horizontal axis for instance. The Octopus is pretty well equipped in this regard but I bought a NDLR hoping it would fill the gaps, unfortunately it didn't live up to my hopes. let me know if you want any input into future Octopus features...

Hi Nick,

Nice to see that you're "digging deep" into the machine !

I don't think its possible to do exactly what you are trying to achieve - not with the effector (yet) anyway.

However you could possibly use a POS Step Event to shift the steps in a forward or reverse direction - so, if your sequence is on one track, copy to a second track (make them a chain) set first track DIR 1 & second track DIR 2 then add a POS Step Event to each track in the fwd/rev (+/-) shift amount of your choice.

From reading your post I don't think is quite exactly what your aiming for but you may get some creative results with the above approach (and I don't want to spoil the surprise... but they may already be feature in the works to do exactly what you want !).

Best,

Jean

The reverse play direction feature is really useful, I see this as a reflection around a vertical axis which can then be swept through the note sequence with the POS knob. Is there a way to do the same thing but around a horizontal axis? I was hoping that it could be done with mutator tracks but I've run out of cognitive bandwidth trying to figure it out. Is it possible?
