Hi

I need to upgrade my Octopus (lion head) OS from Windows 10. What do people recommend as a terminal program now that Hyperterm isn't bundled?

Cheers

Hi Benny,

Although Hyperterm is not bundled with windows 7 onwards you can use the version that is bundled with XP (if you can find an old XP CD or machine running XP).

The two files you will need are hypertrm.dll and hypertrm.exe.

On an XP machine you should  find hypertrm.exe in C:\Program Files\Windows NT and hypertrm.dll in C:\Windows\System32.

The Windows XP CD, you should find both of these files in the \i386 directory on the CD.

 Simply copy those files into any directory on your machine and it will work.

Best
Jean

@jean

Thanks for your helpful response Jean. Since I posted I managed to get a copy of HyperTerminal and so have managed to get the upgrade (to 5.00) done - not without some trepidation - but all seems well.

Cheers
