Bug possibly

I have noticed that if I set up a midi map the way I want it, say CC07 10 channels 1-9 amt=100 on map 0, then do a full machine state sysex dump, the map has gone after the dump. If I then set up the map again, do the dump again, it remains.

Labeling on Octopus buttons and knobs?

There are quite a few labels on the octpopus panel that i have failed to see mentioned in the past and i would love to know if anyone has insight into this:

1. above the top row of the grid step 1 and 2 are labeled r1 and r2, step 15 and 16 are labeled r3 and r4?

2. the outer circle have roman numeral designators that i dont believe are mentioned in the manual?

3. there is an ALL LED below the left column of MIX knobs?

4a. there is an ALL LED with two symbols around is below the right column of EDIT knobs?

4b. the symbals around the ALL LED are next to VEL, PIT, LEN, STA, and POS knobs

5. MCC LED above the EDIT button?

ive been using this sequencer for years and have just never really payed attention to these things and am just not fully sure what they mean or do.

Hi there.

I've got a couple of suggestions for The Collective to consider. It would be great if the page sets buttons behaved in the same way as the page buttons, I'd like to be able to engage 'page follow' for the page sets and I'd like to be able to specify the number of repeats a page set manifested before moving on. This way much longer song structures could be made and it would be effectively a song mode that requires no button presses.

Another suggestion, not sure how feasible it would be has occurred to me as a result of using my TR8s drum machine. It has the 'page set follow' behaviour I described above but what I didn't realise until recently is that the program changes it sends out as it switches patches seem to be sent slightly early and this has proven to be invaluable for switching page sets on the Octo and switching sequences on the MPC. The Octo and the MPC send theirs right on beat 1 and so anything being controlled by either of these is always at least 1 bar late changing.

I was about to sell the TR8s but its invaluable for now because of this functionality.

Sysex dump question.

Hi there.

I'm sending the memory contents of the Octo to Sysex Librarian which displays the number of messages each dump contains. Is it the case that the number of illuminated pages on the Octo display +1= the number of messages displayed by Sysex Librarian? The +1 is the 'internal machine state'.

Sysex format for octopus

I've bought one of those Electra One Mk2 midi controllers which has the ability to edit sysex strings and transmit them. I thought it might be interesting to use it to store and possibly manipulate pages in the Octopus. Any way I can get to understand the format of a single page sysex dump from the Octo?

Chord Strum Editor?

When the edit light is flashing orange, any button presses send the step note content value to the output, it would very cool if it also sent the step CC value, then you would have an entire matrix of Midi CC buttons to control all sorts of stuff. If the step was not illuminated, the CC value could be sent without the note value.

Re channeling midi in to out quirk?

Hi there.

I set up a track so that it transmits to the out what it receives at the in, the track selector is flashing red but the record light is not illuminated, this allows me to rechannel midi. It seems to do this for CC and notes but program changes are not transmitted in any way. Is this right?
